Plus, because of hdmi_timings variable and hi-resolution tricks it was much easier to configure. Not as precise as your PVMs of course, but the size made up for it. Sure, I love how Pi plays well with CRTs, especially when I had it connected to a SCART RGB 27"Trinitron. Hoping maybe on this here specialized forum somebody has similar experience. I've also posted this question many times elsewhere. I did, to the point that I got sick of it and just want to play some games Serioulsy, Vice just has too many combinations. Mongooseman wrote:I am thinking maybe try custom resolutions and aspect ratios. But again, perhaps it could be improved? I could also not reproduce the picture I was getting in lr-vice, using the 384x277 settings the display is all over the place. With this the picture is fairly decent, with full border. There's just so many variables and I never could get it quite right. But, here I struggled with getting correct display settings. I'm mostly using this VICE version now, because it looks really decent, but do these values really correspond to "real" C64? Not from what I was reading.Īnd there's also the question of original VICE (3.1 SDL2) - I quite like it on RPi, apart from inability to save and automatically-load individual game configs (unless I missed something) it is superior to lr-vice - much more options. This looks pretty good, perhaps even 1:1 pixel -wise, though it kills the border somewhat (obviously 756x544 > 640x480). When using lr-vice, it scales using IntegerON and values of 384x277 (x2). I was using a dedicated RGB hat before (Pi2SCART) but now moved to another country and have access only to a NTSC TV via composite. Have a question regarding display values for VICE. I mostly use Raspberry Pi3B+ Retropie and also am a CRT TV fanatic. I grew up with microcomputers in the 80/90s (Spectrum-C64-Amiga), now finally overcame the nostalgia block and enjoy them again. Hi folks, greetings to the venerable members of this forum.
